Duncan Carmichael and Ian Carmichael are brothers and real estate brokers who are dedicated to serving the needs of Cottagers and waterfront property Owners in the Lake of the Woods Vacation Area. Duncan and Ian have been avid/authentic cottagers at Lake of the Woods all their lives. Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba they were very fortunate to enjoy decades of cherished weeks and weekends with family at the lake before relocating to Kenora by choice and with purpose.

The little family camp they enjoyed is located on lands purchased in 1896 by their great-grandfather Angus who was a mayor of Kenora. Their grandfather George was also a mayor of Kenora who resided in the stately Carmichael house at the top of Matheson Street almost his entire life. Their father Terry Carmichael was born and raised in that same house before moving to Winnipeg and then retiring back to Carmichael Point with Mom Loraine. The love of the lake and Kenora runs very deep in the Carmichael family.

Duncan Carmichael enjoyed a background in national sales & marketing before choosing a career in recreational Kenora real estate in 1991; then becoming an independent real estate broker in 1996. Ian Carmichael joined his brother and relocated his family to Kenora as a new real estate salesperson in 1999; then graduating his licence to that of real estate broker in 2003. The Carmichael brothers have provided year round waterfront real estate services for 23 years and 15 years respectively.

A lakefront marina with docks was purchased in 1998 which was converted into the Carmichael real estate office. Ancillary to real estate focus, the marina slips have since become occupied by many real estate island clients and resultant friends. This convenient location in Norman Bay has provided handy preparedness for Carmichael brokers to properly service the abundance of islands on Lake of the Woods through all four seasons by boat, snowmobile and specially designed airboat. 4x4 trucks are used to access all the highways, byways and bush roads within their 1000 square mile trading area – which extends from the Manitoba border east of Kenora, and from Minaki area south to the meandering division of LOTW by the United States border.

Jo-Anne van der Krabben joined the firm with appreciated skills in 2002 and efficiently runs the office as the Executive Controller. Together with her daughter Mia who began work in 2010; the blended computer talents of Jo-Anne and Mia have especially enabled the office with superlative marketing resources. Duncan and Ian rely on Jo-Anne and Mia to support all manner of administrative and marketing initiatives required to be productive in this specialized marketplace. This lean team is highly focused, prepared and dedicated to providing earnest service to clients/customers with the greatest of care, passion and due diligence. They all enjoy life at the lake and it shows in the lake lifestyle they eagerly list and sell.
